Dazzle Literacy has come about because of my interest and passion for supporting students with dyslexia and other learning challenges. This interest is deeply personal - both my husband and daughter were impacted by dyslexia throughout their school years and into adulthood. This has given me first-hand insight into the challenges, frustrations, and strengths that often are associated with learning difficulties.
Hello, I’m Vanessa. I’m a teacher with 35 years of experience across a wide range of year levels and subject areas. I pride myself on being a kind, patient, and caring educator. I believe every learner deserves to feel understood, supported, and capable of acieving great things
Over the past 10 years, I have specialised in supporting students with learning difficulties such as dyslexia and have spent the last 5 years providing targeted literacy support in the classroom. I am an Associate Member of the Australian Dyslexia Association with accreditation in multi-sensory learning, as well as a member of the Australian Tutoring Association and SPELD NSW. I continue to build my understanding of a wide range of learning differences through ongoing professional learning, so I can support the students and families I work with to the best of my ability.
My teaching approach combines clear, explicit instruction with multisensory, evidence-based strategies. Lessons are structured and personalised, designed to build confidence, strengthen understanding, and help learning finally make sense.
Dazzle Literacy enables me to continue my commitment to ensuring every student receives the understanding, support, and skills they need to reach their full potential
Every child deserves the opportunity to truly Dazzle.

The initial session includes a comprehensive assessment designed to precisely identify each student’s areas of difficulty. This assessment covers the ability to recognise and apply letter–sound relationships to decode words; phonological awareness (the ability to hear and manipulate sounds in spoken language); decoding and word recognition (accuracy and speed when sounding out unfamiliar words); reading fluency and comprehension; and encoding (the ability to draw on and apply letter–sound knowledge to spell unknown words).
Both real and nonsense words are used to ensure an accurate assessment of underlying skills.
While the assessment is conducted within a one-hour lesson, an additional fee applies for the scoring and detailed written report.

Online or in person, each lesson is systematic, explicit, diagnostic, and individualized to meet the unique needs of every learner. Phonics forms the foundation of instruction, supporting the development of language, listening, speaking, reading, spelling, vocabulary, and fluency skills. Lessons are grounded in a multisensory language approach that actively engages visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic pathways. By integrating these senses simultaneously, students experience deeper understanding, stronger retention, and greater confidence as they develop essential literacy skills.

We often underestimate how literate our society is. While modern technology can provide helpful support, strong foundational skills remain essential—whether it’s recognising correct spelling even after using spell check, reading and completing complex forms, or enjoying bedtime stories with your child and confidently supporting their learning.

Parent lessons are offered to support you in helping your child learn with confidence—without the angst and frustration that often accompanies homework and learning challenges.
